The Commission shall immediately following functions: -

1. Management and use of public transport facility in Alexandria except as fall within the competence of a company or other body.
2. Establishment and exploitation of ancillary facilities or associated with or complement the facility.
3. Develop and improve the level of public transport service.
4. Regular service performance and soft at the lowest cost in support of the social dimension of public passenger.

The work system in the Authority on a set of principles to achieve the overall objective of the Commission, namely: -

1) develop sound plans for all the activities of the Commission to ensure optimum utilization of all the possibilities available to the Authority.
2) achieve coherence and coordination between all organs of the body and highlight the features of the general plan for the level of service expected to be submitted and the expected business results and their implications.
3) for executive agencies to develop implementation plans to ensure the implementation of its obligations in the Commission's plans.
4) immediate follow-up of the implementation in all areas and stand on any deviations from the prescribed plans and clarify the causes and review and modify plans if necessary, including not affect its goals.
5) conduct supervision and inspection on the implementation to ensure his safety and the statement of the offenses and their implications and actions needed to prevent a recurrence.
6) measuring the efficiency of the performance of all the organs of the body and the extent to which specific plans and general plan in light of the results of the actual implementation and identify any deviations from planned and their causes.
7) calculate the actual cost of service revenues and evaluate the economic performance of the body.
